Dia 15 de Fevereiro, na Aldeia do Xisto de Casal de São Simão, foi inaugurado o percurso pedestre “Caminho do Xisto do Casal de São Simão” e a Exposição FotoXisto. O dia começou com a plantação de árvores autóctones, tais como carvalhos, sobreiros e medronheiros. Este foi apenas o início de um grande projecto que pretende devolver a paisagem original à aldeia. Terminada a plantação, iniciaram o percurso os muitos caminheiros, que aguardavam para percorrer os 5 km do novo Caminho do Xisto. De volta ao Casal de São Simão, procedeu-se á inauguração da Exposição, no espaço destinado ao restaurante e Loja de Aldeia, onde foi servido um Porto de Honra oferecido pela Câmara Municipal de Figueiró dos Vinhos. A exposição recebeu a visita de 350 pessoas e participaram na inauguração do Percurso Pedestre 120 pessoas.
On the 15th of February in the Schist Village of Casal de São Simão took place the opening of the Schist Walking Trail of Casal de São Simão and the travelling exhibition FotoXisto. The day began with the planting of indigenous trees such as oaks (Quercus Robur), cork-oak (Quercus Suber) and strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo). This was only the beginning of a major project that aims to give back the original landscape to the village. After planting the trees, all the walkers who were waiting started the 5 km of the new Schist Walking Trail. Back to Casal de São Simão, took place the opening of the exhibition in the place that will be the restaurant and Shop of the Village, where was served a port of Honor offered by the municipality of Figueiró dos Vinhos. The exhibition received the visit of 350 people and participated in the inauguration of the walking trail 120 “walking” people.
O Casal de São Simão recebeu no dia 14 de Fevereiro os amigos do CAOS. A concentração teve lugar no largo da Capela e ao fim da manhã, com a ajuda do autocarro da Câmara de Figueiró dos Vinhos os 57 caóticos estavam na Ferraria de São João, prontos para percorrerem os 11kms do percurso pedestre que liga Ferraria ao Casal de São Simão. Depois de 5 horas a caminhar no meio de paisagens deslumbrantes chegaram ao destino. A recebê-los, estava um pequeno lanche preparado pelos habitantes do Casal de São Simão. Nas máquinas fotográficas levaram imagens de um fim-de-semana inesquecível e ficaram promessas de um dia voltarem.
On the 14th of February, Casal de São Simão received the friends of CAOS. The meeting took place at the Chapel and by the end of the morning, with the help of the bus of Figueiró dos Vinhos Municipality the 57 Caóticos were in Ferraria de São João. Ready to hike the 11kms of the walking trail that connects Ferraria to Casal de São Simão. After 5 hours trekking in the midst of great landscapes they arrived the destination. To receiving them, was a snack prepared by inhabitants of Casal de São Simão. In the cameras they took images of an unforgettable week-end and they left the promise of coming back some day.
Realizou-se dia 18 de Outubro a 1ª edição do AXtrail, corrida de montanha de distância curta, que ligou as Aldeias do Xisto de Casal de São Simão a Ferraria de São João. Organizado pela Go-outdoor através do caminho pedestre que liga as duas aldeias, foi um duro desafio para os amantes do trail running que no fim teceram os maiores elogios ao traçado do percurso e á beleza da paisagem. A prova foi ganha pelo atleta Alcino Serra, percorreu os 12 km do percurso numa hora e dez minutos. Para terminar e retemperar as forças foi servido um pequeno lanche no Casal de São Simão.
It took place on the 18th of October the 1st edition of AXtrail, a trail running race of short distance, connecting the Schist Villages Casal de São Simão to Ferraria de São João. Organized by Go-outdoor using the hiking trail that connects the two villages, was a tough challenge for lovers of trail running, but at the end they made the highest praise for the layout of the course and the beauty of the landscape. Alcino Serra was the winner of this race, he ran the 12Km in one hour and ten minutes. Finally and to refresh the forces was served a snack in Casal de San Simão.
Num radioso dia de Sol, o fotógrafo encontrou o pátio da Casa da Lura transformado num belo salão de cabeleireiro. Com o bonito cenário das Fragas de São Simão como fundo a Dina cortava o cabelo ao Luís, enquanto o olhar atento do André seguia o caminho da máquina. Terminado o trabalho lá foi o André verificar os dotes da mãe e dar a sua aprovação. Na Casa da Lura, com vista privilegiada para as Fragas de São Simão e Ribeira de Alge, mora a família Coelho: A avó Celeste, a mãe Dina, o pai Luís e os filhos André e Pedro.
In a brilliant sunshine day the photographer found Lura’s House courtyard turned into a beautifulhairdressing salon. With the lovely scenery of Fragas de São Simão in their back, Dina is cutting Luis's hair, meanwhile Andre's eyes follow the path of the shaver. When the work was done Andre verifies the mother's gifts and gives his approval.
In Lura’s House, with nice views to Fragas de São Simão and Alge stream,lives the Coelho family: The grandmother Celeste, the mother Dina, the father Luis and sons Andre and Pedro.
O Verão é a altura do ano em que se come a bela sardinha assada e o melão, diz a tradição que a melhor se come nos meses sem “r” (Maio, Junho, Julho e Agosto). No Casal de São Simão o cheiro a petisco espalha-se pela aldeia! À mesa, os amigos juntam-se para saborear a sardinha acompanhada com tomate, pimento e batata cozida. Há quem as vá pondo em cima de uma fatia de pão, absorvendo a gordura, que se come no fim… um belo petisco! Para terminar lá vai a fresquinha e deliciosa fatia de melão. E claro, não pode faltar o copo de vinho tinto!
Summer is the time of the year when one eats the beautiful grilled sardines and melon, says the tradition that the best ones you can eat is in the months without "r" (May, June, July and August). In Casal de São Simão the smell of appetizer spreads throughout the village. At the table, friends come together to enjoy the sardines with the rightaccompaniment: tomatoes, peppers and boiled potatoes. Some like to put it on the top of a slice of bread absorbing the fat, that you eat at the end ... a nice snack! Finally a fresh and delicious slice of melon. And of course, can’t miss the glass of red wine!
Durante este ano o Casal de São Simão recebeu vários grupos de alemães, que vieram através da Wikinger e da Hauser, acompanhados mais uma vez pelo Cedric e o Paul. A todos o nosso obrigado pela amizade e pelos belos momentos que passamos juntos.
During this year Casal de São Simão received several groups of German tourists, who came with the Wikinger and Hauser, guided once more by Cedric and Paul. To all our thanks for the friendship and the beautiful moments we spent together.
